During the conference, Dr. García Hamilton will present his books “Simón, Life of Bolivar”, “Don José”, fictional novel about the life of José de San Martín, and “The Hispanoamerican authoritarism and the improductivity”. The audience will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive Q&A with the author and to purchase the books after the lecture. A reception of wine and cheese will close the evening.

Dr. José Ignacio García Hamilton

An attorney and PhD in Law and Social Science, García Hamilton is professor at the University of Buenos Aires. He has been a journalist and director of the newspaper La Gaceta de Tucumán. He contributes to newspapers and magazines in Argentina, Uruguay and the United States.

His bibliography includes “The authoritarism and the improductivity” (essay), “Life of an absent”, fictionalized biography of Juan B. Alberdi and “Cuyano alborotador”, the life of Domino Faustino Sarmiento. His book about the authoritarism was awarded by the Secretary of Culture of Argentina with a special recognition in the genre Sociology, and by the City of Buenos Aires with the Third Prize in Essay in the Ricardo Rojas’ contest. He received a Diploma of Merit as one of the five literary figures of the decade 1984-1994 in the discipline of Biographies and Memoirs for “Life of an absent”, bestowed by the Konex Foundation

Dr. García Hamilton has been invited to lecture at Wisconsin, Georgia, Loyola, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Yeshiva and Ripon Universities, in the United States.
