Missing in action: Raoul Wallenberg

PUBLIC APPEAL

To individuals who may have factual information about the whereabouts of Raoul Wallenberg

DETAILS ABOUT RAOUL WALLENBERG:

Among the few rays of light during the Holocaust/Shoah, were the actions of the ”Righteous Among the Nations”, men and women who risked their lives to save the lives of Jews from the Nazis and their collaborators. Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat, was born in 1912 and risked his life to save thousands of Jewish people in Hungary during World War II. Raoul Wallenberg was therefore officially recognized by ”Yad Vashem” in Israel as one of those ”Righteous Among the Nations”. Raoul Wallenberg is an Honorary Citizen of Israel, United States, Canada and Hungary. He was detained in Hungary in January 1945 by the Soviet Army and imprisoned in the former Soviet Union. Raoul Wallenberg’s whereabouts since then are unknown.

GOAL:

To bring Raoul Wallenberg home to be united with his family. Despite various official declarations and rumors about his fate, the civilized world at large and human rights activists in particular, are determined to find the whereabouts and fate of this great fighter for humanity. A joint Swedish-Russian Working Group was formed in 1991 with the task of examining evidence from Russian archives and from people who may have knowledge about Raoul Wallenberg’s detention in Soviet prisons and camps. The conclusion of the official Swedish report, which was published in January of 2001, is that there is still no conclusive evidence in regard to the whereabouts of Raoul Wallenberg. It is hoped that this public appeal will stimulate the quest for Raoul Wallenberg.
